How to get wheelbase measurement of your vehicle.

There are times when people are ordering parts where the parameters of the parts have options. The options vary depending on the part. One of those options is the length of the wheelbase. When is that necessary to know before you call in?

What is a wheelbase, where can I find the measurement? The wheelbase is the distance between the center of the front wheel to the center of the rear wheel. Pretty Simple, eh?! On some vehicles, you can find the wheelbase printed on the door sticker. The door sticker is a sticker that the manufacturer places on the vehicle with some of the basics of that vehicle. It will list the VIN, paint code, interior trim, etc. It is business card sized sticker near the bottom of the driver’s door, and sometimes it is on the lower door rocker. Here is an example of a door rocker with the wheelbase pointed out:

The most common part that we see that will ask for the wheelbase will be a drive shaft, but also on any truck beds, frames, etc. It is not limited to trucks either. Any vehicle that has 4×4, rear wheel drive or all-wheel drive will probably ask for the wheelbase.

When in doubt, it is better that you have the information before you call. “It is better to have and not need, than need and not have”.
